Funded Fertility Program

In December of 2015, the Ministry of Health introduced their funded fertility program. Fertility centres had to apply for the privilege of acceptance into the program. TRIO is part of the funded fertility program and offers both funded IUI and IVF cycles. Its is of note that OHIP no longer covers the services needed to properly accomplish an IUI cycle if the clinic is not part of the funded program, i.e. Doctor interaction, ultrasound, laboratory service and the IUI procedure would not be covered. It is thus important to make sure your fertility centre offer both funded IUI and IVF cycles.

It is also important to note that the Ministry will cover one cycle of IVF for female patients or surrogates. If there is less than optimal growth of embryos in the one funded IVF cycle, the opportunity is lost and future cycles would not be covered. It is thus more important than ever to utilize an experienced, established IVF centre for that one opportunity of a funded IVF cycle.

In Vitro Fertilization

For a variety of reasons, some couples require or choose IVF as their means of reproductive technology to achieve their goal of pregnancy. IVF is a highly technological treatment process involving uterine preparation, follicular stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo growth and transfer. Although IVF with ICSI is a complex treatment option, one must remember it also carries the highest success rate for many cases.

TRIO’s medical and laboratory team has been providing state of the art IVF services with excellent success rates for over 20 years. Founder, Dr. Cadesky, Dr. Laskin and Dr. Casper, and their medical team, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to IVF cycles. TRIO KW will have Dr. Sony Sierra care for all of our IVF clients on site in Waterloo. Dr. Sierra is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Endocrinology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto. Dr. Sierra is a key member of the TRIO Fertility team and is committed to providing excellence in the management of infertility and IVF cycles.

When it comes to success rates with IVF cycles, many would argue that a centre is a good as their embryologist. Jim Marriano, Chief Embryologist, has been overseeing IVF laboratories for 20 years. Jim and his team are considered one of the best in Canada, excelling at pre-implantation genetic diagnosis/screening and remain forerunners in egg freezing. TRIO makes industry-leading investments in technology and staff to remain at the forefront of IVF treatment resulting in pregnancy rates that are of the highest in Canada.

TRIO KW IVF clients receive the best of both worlds experience on their journey to parenthood. We take a “do what you do best” approach to helping patients achieve their goals. Clients have all of their teaching, cycle monitoring, laboratory work and ultrasounds done at TRIO KW in a convenient, warm, supportive and respectful environment. Information is conveyed to the IVF centre where decisions are made and conveyed to the patient. A typical cycle would involve two trips to the IVF centre; i.e. One trip for egg retrieval and one trip for embryo transfer. We have mastered a seamless and coordinated approach to IVF cycles, allowing patients to have convenience and pregnancy rates that are of the highest in the country.
